Established in 1967 under the visionary leadership of Shri S.R. Kanthi, the then Minister of Education, Kittur Rani Channamma Residential Sainik School for Girls (KRCRSSG) was founded to honor the legacy of Kittur Rani Channamma. The foundation stone was laid by the then Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi, and the institution was formally inaugurated in 1969 by Dr. V.K.R.V. Rao, Union Minister for Education.KRCRSSG is a one-of-a-kind institution — the only residential Sainik school exclusively for girls in India. Modeled on the lines of Military and Sainik school systems, it draws cadets from across the nation, instilling in them discipline, leadership, and a spirit of service.

Affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE Affiliation Code: 830488), the school follows the CBSE curriculum from Class VI to Class XII. With around 850 girl cadets currently enrolled, the school consistently excels in academics, sports, NCC, Scouts and Guides, and defense training programs conducted by the Indian Armed Forces.Dedicated to the holistic development of each cadet, KRCRSSG integrates academic rigor with co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
